Tata Secures the Title Sponsorship of IPL for next 5 Years

According to sources who spoke with NDTV, the Tata Group will continue to sponsor the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the ensuing five years of Title Sponsorship. According to the new agreement, Tata will remain the premier sponsor of the prestigious T20 tournament through 2028. Tata successfully closed the deal by using its Right to Match (RTM) card to match the amount that Aditya Birla had provided. The Tata Group, one of the biggest business conglomerates in India, had previously taken over as the IPL title sponsor from Chinese smartphone maker Vivo. The agreement ran from 2022 to 2023 for two years.

Vivo had a deal worth Rs 2200 crore to sponsor the IPL title from 2018 to 2022, but the brand took a year off following the military confrontation between the Chinese and Indian armies in the Galwan Valley in 2020, with Dream11 taking its place in the IPL.

Vivo, however, returned to Title sponsorship to the IPL in 2021 despite rumors circulating that it was seeking to sell the rights to a worthy buyer, a move that was approved by the BCCI.

The Women’s Premier League, the largest women’s T20 league in the world, and the IPL title sponsorship rights for 2022 and 2023 were previously held by the TATA Group.
